Getaway of Armstrong not rewarded

Soloflucht von Armstrong nicht belohnt 8 June, 2008 – At the third race of the “triple crown series” in the US-state Pennsylvania, the Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team appeared again self-confident. Kristin Armstrong attacked early in the today’s race „Liberty Classic“, which took place on a 4 x 14,4 miles (4 x 23,175 km) course in Philadelphia and made a gap over two minutes to the peloton.

After an about 45 min. getaway Armstrong was caught up by a chasing group. Into the last two laps, the racers were going together. Several attacks followed and only some kilometres ahead of the finish, Chantal Beltmann (NED, High Road) broke away from the group and won the race in a total race time of 2:28.52h. The second place took the American Brooke Miller (Team Tibco; 6 sec. behind the winner), ahead of the German Ina Yoko Teutenberg (High Road), who claimed victory in the overall “triple crown” series. Together with the first group, Sarah Düster (GER) reached the finish and took the 12th place.

The race schedule of the Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team will continues on 17th of June with the Grande Boucle Féminine International (17th-22nd June, 7stages in 6 days), one of the most important stage races in the women cycling sport.
