Cervélo is main sponsor at GP Suisse
28 April, 2008 – One of the most famous and highly paid time trial competition in women’s cycling calendar will take place soon: The GP Suisse – Souvenir Magali Pache. The bike manufacturer Cervélo is supporting as the main sponsor the race together with Cycling United, the company that is leading the Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team. The companies Zipp (Speed Weaponry) and Speedplay (pedal systems) are as well involved as the Co-Sponsors. The competition is dedicated to the young Swiss talent Magali Pache who was killed in an accident in 2000. The GP Suisse will take place at the 2nd of May 2008 in Sion (SUI) as a part of the Tour de Romandie programme. The riders will race on the same 18,8 km course around Sion, which will be the time trial course for the men in the Tour de Romandie at the same day.
In this time trial competition of the UCI category 1.1, about 19 invited top athletes will fight for the prize money of in total 8.450 CHF and a high-quality time trial frame of Cervélo (value about 5.000 CHF). Among the starter field will be from the Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team the top time trial riders Kristin Armstrong (USA; winner 2007), Christiane Soeder (AUT), Priska Doppmann (SUI), und Karin Thürig (SUI, winner 2005).
